Während Furstenfelds kreativer Phase in seinen eigenen Up/Down Studios in San Marcos, Texas aufgenommen, bringt die "Spinning the Truth Around"-Serie, wie Spin schreibt, "bringing back the transportive experience of the old-school album journey,” und “marks a significant turning point in the band’s decades-long canon". Die mit Platin ausgezeichnete Band - bestehend aus Justin Furstenfeld (Gesang, Gitarre, Songschreiber), Jeremy Furstenfeld (Schlagzeug), Ryan Delahoussaye (Violine, Mandoline, Klavier), Steve Schlitz (Gitarre) und Matt Noveskey (Bass) - entwickelt sich stetig mit einer außergewöhnlichen Perspektive. Seit "The Answers" von 1998 tourt Blue October mit einem grenzenlosen Ansatz um die Welt, erzielt mehr als eine Milliarde Gesamtstreams und platziert 19 Hits, darunter "Down Here Waiting". "We feel like we’re at the height of our craft", sagt Furstenfeld, der Inspiration in R&B und Hip-Hop fand, insbesondere bei J Dilla und Marvin Gaye. Das Album erzählt die Geschichte von zwei sich entfremdenden Menschen. "Even if you did love someone, it’s okay if you both fall out of love.
